First, before anything else, take about 3 minutes and listen to this powerful song. You are worth the three minutes. It is no coincidence that this is what you are reading now, and I, along with the rest of the world, desperately would benefit by you committing to being totally YOU, so…
Here and Now, Jana Stanfield, performed in sign language http://tinyurl.com/o4t97gh
(A bow of gratitude to all of the transformative lyrics and music shared by Jana Stanfield being bold enough to moment by moment following her calling and sharing her gifts.)
How often do you wish you were somewhere else? Or wish things could be different? We all have experienced difficult times we wish would pass quickly. And yet, what you resist, persists. The only moment we really have is now! The question is, what will we do with it… be a victim of it or embrace it and dance fully?
An important insight to happiness is to learn how to accept what is, even welcome it frayed (or afraid) edges and all. And, wherever you are, learn to be there totally. Dive in and look for the pony in crappy situations.
Really, you say? Yes, really… even when life seems to suck there is a benefit to be had. I have muddled through a divorce, grieved over the loss of my parents, have a grandson with autism and a grand-nephew who thrives in spite of cancer, and today I hold dear to my heart a wonderful grand dame amazing friend who passed gently in her 90’s only a couple of days ago.
I have learned the hard way, sometimes kicking and screaming, that even and perhaps especially in situations like these, the ones that are most challenging, are valuable lessons and the pure joy that comes only when we embrace the blessings by loosening our grip on the illusion of control. Yes, the blessings that reveal themselves most when we dare to let go and be totally in the moment with an open heart. Totally willing to set the past and future aside to see the magnificence of now.
Eckhart Tolle suggests:
“Wherever you are, be there totally. If you find your here and now intolerable and it makes you unhappy, you have three options: remove yourself from the situation, change it, or accept it totally. If you want to take responsibility for your life, you must choose one of those three options, and you must choose now. Then accept the consequences.”
First, be still to reconnect with the truth. Shepherd your thoughts back to now, back to center. Then, remember that action alleviates anxiety. Act on behalf of your own happiness, your calling often buried deep, and dare to believe in your worth. Choose not to drive through life unconsciously with your emergency brake on. Roll down the window and sing.
Be here now. Be here totally. Right NOW. Don’t wait! When you can’t change your circumstances, change your mind. The choice is yours regardless of your circumstances. You are not alone and NOW is the only moment you really have! Joyfully,
Joyfully,
